Tidbits from My Week

Waiting for the fireworks… in Harlan.

Well, the grand kids have gone home. We had so much fun with them! The week and a half they were here was jam packed with fun! We went to the beach at the lake, we went ice skating in Knoxville (I’ll be sharing photos later), we saw fireworks, we had Laura’s birthday party, and so much more!

I especially loved these two photos below of my daughters Hannah (left) and Emily (right). Emily was taking a photo of the two of them together with her iPod. The one below is just a really sweet picture of these two beautiful girls. Especially since Hannah and Emily tend to feel awkward or shy in front of the camera and I often have to squeeze good smiles out of them!

Now I’m trying to get my house back in order. Looks like it’s going to take a few days.

I spent this morning in the garden before it got too unbearably hot outside. Anyone else blown away by how unusually hot its been?

I thought my broccoli heads would be so much bigger… you know, like the ones in the store?

My cabbages are growing nicely. They are so pretty! I have a couple dozen cabbage heads planted around my garden.Oh, and just ignore the weeds in the photo below. ;)

I have already started harvesting zucchini! I know some folks that have been harvesting for a while, but I always get a late start with my garden because of campmeeting.

I pulled up and harvested my broccoli and then added some rhubarb, two yellow squash plants, and a row of green onions to my cabbage bed. Look how pretty!

And, I signed a contract with The Seymour Agency (literary agency) for my first novel. I am sooo excited – and nervous! It’s been a fabulous week!

So what’s been happening in your neck of the woods?
